Budget Interview

   In interviewing my Superintendent it is evident that he is extremely knowledgeable about finance.  He has a business background before entering education; therefore the business aspect of running a school district is one of his many strengths.  Before becoming superintendent, he was the associate superintendent for finance for the district.  During his leadership I have watched him transform the school system and build a good system to a strong and moving to a great school system.  Financially, he is very transparent about the decisions that he makes.  He discussed that it is imperative that he is open and honest about the decisions that he makes and the reasoning for spending taxpayer dollars.  He discussed being a character of trust and dependability is crucial when planning a school budget.  He believes that he is the liaison between the board and schools, and that he has to be able to communicate his vision to both the board and the leaders in the system to ensure that they have a clear understanding of how they need to run their budget in order to effectively implement his plan.  In addition to effectively building and explaining the plan, he believes that he must be able to communicate how changes in state funding effect the work that must be done and how budget cuts and various Title Funds are allocated or change with new legislation.
